Crafting in May

This month has seen the chill set in, as winter begins to settle over the land here in Australia. It is mushroom season- the ideal time to curl in an armchair, pick up the knitting needles and create a mushroom themed shawl.

I had a request from my dearest witch. She had a beautiful ceramic fungi brooch from artist Bower Bird Designs and wanted the perfect light shawl to pair with it. I had just the right yarn waiting in my knitting basket and set out to make what I have named the Forest Floor Shawl.

The Forest Floor Shawl

Inspired by mushrooms and earthy, autumn tones, this shawl has been knitted from custom yarn by Ixchel Fibres and Yarn, from the pattern Aquiline by Casapinka.

This beautiful handmade brooch was made by Bower Bird Designs and compliments the Forest Floor Shawl

I did leave off the picot binding suggested in the pattern and went for a simple super stretchy bind off.

Crescent shaped shawls always have a lovely curl to them that drapes so well when worn

What have you made in May?
